Ubu Sings Ubu

Tony Torn

This work-in-progress excerpt of Ubu Sings Ubu is the fruit of a thirty year old itch to mash up the absurdist slapstick of Alfred Jarry’s Ubu Roi with the art punk hijinks of the 70’s art-punk band Pere Ubu. Featuring a new version by Torn and noted poet/playwright Ariana Reines, adapted from translation software transcription of the original French. With Tony Torn as Pa Ubu and Julie Atlas Muz as Ma Ubu.

Artists Involved: Concept and direction by Tony Torn; performed by Tony Torn, Julie Atlas Muz and Stephen Boyer; movement by Dan Safer; musical direction by Vera Beren; costumes by Ben Rosenberg; props by Stephen Boyer.
